Emanual Swedenborg died in London at 5 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon on the 29th of March, in the year 1772. In his last moments he is attended by a priest, who asked him if now, on his deathbed, he wishes to retract any of his beliefs. This answer is a definite no. The priest then asked the dying Swedenborg if he would read the confession of sins, and thereby admit himself to be a sinner. This time the answer was basically, 'yes, for I am a sinner just as much as the next man.'
